স্বপ্ন বুনে বুনে বড় হয়েছেন এমন অনেকেই আছেন যাদের ছোট বেলা থেকেই স্বপ্ন ছিল বড় হয়ে ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনিং নিয়ে পড়বো এবং ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনার হবো। পরিবেশ ও পরিস্থিতি হয়তো আপনাকে সেদিকে যেতে দেয় নাই অথবা পারেন নাই. তাই বলে কি আপনার স্বপ্ন স্বপ্নই থেকে যাবে?
আসলে যে কোনো মানুষ, যে কোনো বয়সে, যে কোনো পরিবেশ থেকেই নিজের ইচ্ছা শক্তি থাকলে এখনই স্বপ্ন বাস্তবায়ন করতে পারেন। সাহস করে শুরু করতে পারলেই সাফল্য আসবে। শুরু করার আগে শুধু জেনে নিতে হবে কিভাবে শুরু করলে আপনাকে আর পিছে ফিরে তাকাতে হবে না। মনে রাখবেন শুরুটা ছোট করে শুরু করা ভালো। তাতে আপনি গ্রাহকের চাহিদা এবং নিজের সক্ষমতা বুঝতে পারবেন। সময় আপনাকে বলে দিবে পরবর্তী করণীয় কি-

এখনই সময় উপস্থাপন ও পরিবেশন যোগ্য কিছু নিয়ে অনলাইন বিজনেস শুরু করার। আর শুরুটা যদি হয় ডিজাইন ভিত্তিক কিছু নিয়ে তাহলে খুব নিশ্চিত করে বলা যায় পরিচিতি আর সাফল্য সময়ের বেপার মাত্র। এখনই সময় কাক্ষিত লক্ষ্য স্থির করুন, নিজেকে বদলে ফেলুন এবং সুন্দর আগামীর পথে যাত্রা শুরু করুন।
একজন ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনার কী ধরনের কাজ করেন?
পোশাকের নকশা বানানো;
পোশাকের রঙ নির্ণয়;
পোশাকের ধরন ঠিক করা;
একটি নির্দিষ্ট পোশাক তৈরির ক্ষেত্রে কী ধরনের কাপড় ব্যবহার করা হবে, তা ঠিক করা;
পোশাক তৈরিতে আনুমানিক কত খরচ হতে পারে, তার হিসাব তৈরি করা;
নমুনা পোশাক তৈরির সময় যাবতীয় কাজের তদারকি করা;
চলতি ফ্যাশন সম্পর্কে পরিষ্কার ধারণা রাখা।
ফ্যাশন ডিজানিং মানে শুধু পোশাক ডিজাইন করা নয়, ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনাররা পোশাকের আকর্ষণীয়তা , ট্রেন্ড, বাজারের পূর্বাভাস এবং জলবায়ু সঙ্গে মিল রেখে পোশাক ডিজাইন করেন। তারা ফ্যাব্রিক, বুনন , কাপড়ের গুণাবলী, উপাদান, রং এবং নকশা এবং পরিবর্তন প্রবণতা সম্পর্কে জ্ঞান রাখেন।”
ক্যারিয়ার হিসেবে আমাদের দেশে ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনিং এখনো চ্যালেঞ্জিং। তবে সৃজনশীলতা ও কর্মদক্ষতা থাকলে একজন ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনার ম্যানেজার বা সহকারী ম্যানেজার পদে কাজ করার সুযোগ পান।
প্রাতিষ্ঠানিকভাবে কাজ করার পাশাপাশি বহু ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনার কনসালট্যান্ট হিসাবেও কাজ করে থাকেন।
এ ছাড়া উচ্চজ্ঞান ও অভিজ্ঞতা থাকলে আপনি চাইলে কোনো বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রভাষক পদেও আপনি আপনার পদ চিহ্ন রাখতে পারবেন।
বাংলাদেশ সরকারের বিভিন্ন টেক্সটাইল ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে কাজের সুযোগের পাশাপাশি বেসরকারি পর্যায়ে স্থাপিত দেশি-বিদেশি টেক্সটাইল মিল, বিভিন্ন বায়িং অফিস, বুটিক হাউজ, গার্মেন্টস শিল্প ও ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে উৎপাদন কার্যক্রমের সাথে সরাসরি সম্পৃক্ত হয়ে ও গড়তে পারবেন আপনার ক্যারিয়ার ।
i) What They Do: Fashion designers create clothing, accessories, and footwear.
ii) Work Environment: Fashion designers work in wholesale or manufacturing establishments, apparel companies, retailers, theater or dance companies, and design firms. Most fashion designers work in Buying houses, Garments, Fashion House etc.
iii) How to Become One: Employers usually seek applicants who are creative and who have technical knowledge of the production processes for clothing, accessories, or footwear.
iv) Related Careers: Compare the job duties, education, job growth, and pay of fashion designers with similar occupations.
বাংলাদেশে ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনারদের রয়েছে চাকরির বিশাল বাজার। এর মধ্যে টেক্সটাইল শিল্প, গার্মেন্টস শিল্প, বায়িং হাউস, বুটিক হাউস বা দেশের বড় বড় দেশি ও বিদেশি পোশাক ব্র্যান্ড হাউসে আপনার কাজের অনেক সম্ভাবনা নিশ্চিৎ থাকবেই।
প্রাতিষ্ঠানিকভাবে কাজ করার পাশাপাশি বহু ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনার কনসালট্যান্ট হিসাবেও কাজ করে থাকেন।

ফ্যাশন ডিজাইন সেক্টরে কাজ করলে দেশি-বিদেশে বড় বড় এক্সপো বা মেলায় অংশগ্রহণ করা যায়। তাছাড়া ক্রেতাদের সঙ্গে ভালো যোগাযোগ স্থাপন করা যায়। অন্য দেশের সংস্কৃতি সম্পর্কে খুব কাছ থেকে জানা যায়।
কাজের প্রতি পরিশ্রমী হলে খুব সহজেই আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে কাজ করার সুযোগ রয়েছে। এখানে নারী-পুরুষ সমান তালমিলিয়ে কাজ করে।
ফ্যাশন ডিজাইনিংয়ে একজন ডিজাইনার চাকরি করার প্রথম অবস্থায় প্রতি মাসে ১৫ থেকে ২০ হাজার টাকা পেয়ে থাকে।
তারপর ক্রমশ বেতন বাড়তে থাকে যা সর্বোচ্চ ৭০ হাজার পর্যন্ত হয়। এ ছাড়া আরও ভালো বেতন পাওয়া কোম্পানির উপর নির্ভর করে। কিন্তু আন্তর্জাতিক কোনো কোম্পানির সঙ্গে কাজ করলে মাস শেষে সহজেই আয় করতে পারবেন দেড় লাখ থেকে তিন লাখ টাকা।

***Duties of Fashion Designers
Fashion designers typically do the following:
i) Study fashion trends and anticipate designs that will appeal to consumers
ii) Decide on a theme for a collection
iii) Use computer-aided design (CAD) programs to create designs
iv) Visit manufacturers or trade shows to get samples of fabric
v) Select fabrics, embellishments, colors, or a style for each garment or accessory
vi) Work with other designers or team members to create prototype designs
vii) Present design ideas to the creative director or showcase them in fashion or trade shows
viii)Market designs to clothing retailers or directly to consumers
ix) Oversee the final production of their designs

- Pattern Making: Introduction of pattern, Instrument Details- Scale, MMT Tape, French Curve, and Hip Curve. How to take body measurements?
- Pattern Making: Basic pattern for Kamiz, Three-part Kamiz, Frock cutting kamiz, Kolicut Kamiz, Kaften- Short & Long, Body with yoke, Long Kamiz, Short Kamiz
- Pattern Making: Variations of Pajama, 1 cut Pajama, 6 Cut Pajama, Dhuti Pajama, Churidar Pajama, Ladies’ Pant with pocket
